Always a Good Day for a Walkout
Republicans in protest of Democratic obstructionism of the FISA bill have walked off the House floor in protest.
For six months and two weeks, House Republicans have been calling on the Democrats to pass a long-term FISA bill, which should also include liability protection for third parties who help protect our Nation. As of this moment, the Democrat Leadership has not scheduled the consideration of any such legislation, including the bipartisan bill the Senate passed overwhelming this week.
Rather than dealing with vital national security, the Democrats have chosen to rush through a partisan contempt resolution. House Republicans continue to demand that the Democrats bring a comprehensive, long-term FISA bill to the floor. Until this happens, we will not participate in any shame legislation.
Therefore, as a full Conference, House Republicans are abstaining from the vote on the contempt resolution (rule vote). Instead, as a unified Party, we will walk off the House floor to show our solidarity in protecting the America people.
NOTE: Leadership, Ranking Member Smith, Ranking Member Hoekstra, and the entire Republican Conference will all walk off the floor and proceed to the House steps to address the nation on the failures of the Democrats to protect our nation against terrorists.
Ah, always a good day for a walkout.
