Steroids, Baseball, and Politics

Steroids have no place in baseball. However, the place that they have even less of a reason to be is in the Halls of Congress! Why are we wasting money on this issue. I believe thatRoger Clemens baseball is America’s sport. I love baseball. It makes me sick to my stomach to know that half of the players I supported were taking steroids. But what is the government going to do next? Are they going to hold hearings to make sure every kid gets the same playing time in little league, that the same kid doesn’t get picked last in dodge-ball, or that the trade deadline is constitutional?

Congress asked the Justice Department on Wednesday to investigate whether Roger Clemens made false statements to a House committee The chairman and ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said they sent a letter to Justice.

Baseball should not be regulated by government! Businesses should not be regulated by government! The federal government needs to go back to doing what they do best. Bickering over naming post offices.

I have mixed emotions about this one. Congress isn’t just sticking its nose in baseball’s business, but is looking at the issue of steroid distribution - something that Congress would have some sort of legit interest in.

As for their investigation of the Pats and their videotaping of other teams - now that is definitely a ridiculous waste of time.

I hear what you are saying. There is at least a legitimate argument that Congress should have jurisdiction over steroid distribution.

However, that is not what the hearing was about. A hearing regarding steroid distribution would have involved a different committee’s jurisdiction…..I believe.

So, what they are currently doing is just a waste.
