Trucker Strike

I found a new business, shipping. Currently, some of the sub-contractors, truckers, are paying to do the job. This sounds like the type of business plan that Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn might propose.

Jimmy Lowry, 51, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and others said it costs about $1 a mile to drive one of the big rigs, although some companies are offering as little as 87 cents a mile. Diesel cost $4.03 a gallon at the Jacksonville-area truck stop.

It might not sound nice, but if as a shipper you can offer a price and somebody will sign a contract for that price, why wouldn’t you offer the lowest price? So, if I could start up a business today with no entry or exit costs, because the truck drivers will start increasing the pay demands shortly, I would be a shipper today!
