Absolut Boycott - Absolutely Bad Ad Campaign
Political Bear Blogs Calls for a Boycott of Absolut because of a recent ad campaign. Previously Absolut was considered a top rail spirit by this blogger and webmaster, but no more.
Why the Boycott? Absolut just published an ad in Mexico that attempts to claim that in an Absolut world much of the Southwest would belong to Mexico. Immigration feelings aside. What would Israel think if this ad came out against them? Iran? Iraq? Canada? Spain?
Leave a comment in support!!!
Here is the ad:

M@:
They can Absolut Kiss My Ass.

The Richmond Democrat:
Actually, the Absolut brand is owned by a French company named Pernod Ricard. Pernod Ricard in turn owns several well-known brands you could boycott.

In a world that is growing increasingly hostile and hateful towards the USA, but most especially in memory of all of those who died on 9/11, I hereby refuse to ever use Absolut vodka again for any vodka based drink. I will also encourage all my family and friends to do the same. This is in response to the blatant anti-American ad that encourages the overthrow of the USA by the radical neo-Communist Reconquitsa movement, which I consider to be on equal terms to al Qaeda, Hamas and the other jihadist movements who relish butchering Americans. The Absolut company has clearly shown who it sides with. In an absolute world Absolut vodka is never to be seen in my home again absolutely.

They have every right to put out this ad campaign. If the Absolut geniuses want to offend people who buy most of their garbage product to lick the boots of people who buy very little of their product that is their choice. However, we have the choice to never buy their filthy rubbing alcohol tasting trash vodka ever again. These bunch of swedish meatballs can go take their bile in a bottle and go $uck themselves!

One has to wonder if Absolut would run a campaign like this in Europe:

Absolutely never again will I allow absolut in my home or business. Nor any of the other products of Pernod Ricard! I have also placed the link in all my online activity to spread the word. Since we can’t get our Gov to build a damn fence at the border I’ll build a fence of my own around my bar!

In an absolut world I would be pouring absolut vodka all over illegal aliens and setting them on fire to roast marshmallows. Then Sweden would be nuked by missiles launched from california. I wish suffering, death, melancholy and a hideous pox on all parties involved in this despicable “advertising” stunt. I hope the fifteen pesos they bring in from new sales in mexico will offset the millions they will be losing from lost sales here in america. F#@k you and die absolut!!

This is about the dumbest boycott I’ve ever heard of.
That is an actual old map.
Get over yourself. You must have no life.
Posted on April 8th, 2008 at 8:28 am
@mo
What do you mean old map? Or better yet what does that have to do with anything?
What if this style of map was drawn, but it was pro-Germany and the whole of Europe was deemed Germany? See? the age of the map doesn’t matter. It is the message that is intended by it that is upsetting.
If you are responding to the commenter’s that are vocal about their feelings regarding immigration, then say that, but the statement “This is about the dumbest boycott I’ve ever heard of. That is an actual old map. Get over yourself. You must have no life.” addresses none of the issues that I raised about this ad.
The best part of this boycott is that unlike Democrats who call for people to be fired, retractions made, government mandates against such ads. We are just calling for a boycott. We are using the market forces to make our point. Will this take Absolut under……probably not, but I bet somebody brought it up.

Abel:
As a long time Absolut Vodka drinker, I am insulted and angry at the label depicting a redrawn map of the United States.
I expect an apology to the American people. I will not buy another bottle of Absolut until a public apology is printed in the press and reported on radio and television…
The person that created that ad should be fired. If you think the ad is cute and don’t apologize I will never buy another bottle of Absolut. And I will encourage my friends to boycott all of your products.
A very angry former customer.
