Democrats Call for Nationalization of Refineries. No, No, No!!!

Nationalization of anything is bad, and nationalization of something as important as gas is just asking for disaster, but on queue the democrats disregard economics and claim they can handle rising energy costs themselves.

House Democrats responded to President’s Bush’s call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.

Will someone please tell the democrats that while it is obvious that they can run a campaign (they are kicking republicans all over the place) whatever lets them think they can run an energy company is just a 70’s flashback.

A great book that logs historically how these attempts at nationalizing the segments of an economy that, in effect, control and support other industries, such as gas and oil, is “Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy.” It’s a great read if you haven’t already read it, and it should be required reading for every congressman, liberal or conservative. PBS also turned into a great documentary.

I wish I would have known about this book about 30 minutes ago! I was in the book store, wondering what to read.

I guess now I know. Thanks.

Just to clarify for any readers that might take this comment by the dems too seriously………… the dems won’t nationalize refineries, but that statement was a peek behind the curtain. They might not do it, but they would like to.
