Battery Competition! Let the Good Times Roll

McCain has challenged Americans to build a better battery. I for one, declare my entry into this race!

The presumed Republican nominee is proposing a $300 million government prize to whoever can develop an automobile battery that far surpasses existing technology. The bounty would equate to $1 for every man, woman and child in the country, “a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency,” McCain said in remarks prepared for delivery Monday at Fresno State University in California.

I have been working on better batteries for years, so this competition is right up my alley. My first battery was a potato battery in…….maybe 3rd grade.

Actually, finally a good idea that involves throwing money around. No, I don’t fully endorse McCain’s idea because if the market is in need of a better battery, and as oil prices keep rising the more need more need the market has, an entrepreneur will seize on the opportunity. So, hurray for not choosing a winner, booh for throwing money at something that the market is just ripe enough to do without your money.
